Candle Votives Holder Decorative

Select the container for the candle holder. If using a flowerpot, seal the hole in the bottom with self-hardening terra-cotta or modeling clay before the wax is poured in.
For a 2-cup container, you will need 7 to 10 drops of essential oil in the fragrance of your choice. Many wicks burn in only one direction, so be sure to position the wick properly or else the candle will just keep going out.
Materials Measuring cup Heatproof flowerpots or glasses Candlewick Wooden skewers 1 pound paraffin Empty coffee can Saucepan Essential oil Needle
Instructions: Fill selected candle holder with water; pour water into measuring glass and note quantity.
Tie wick onto wooden skewer so free end touches bottom of candle holder. Lay skewer on rim with wick centered.
Place paraffin in well-washed coffee can set in saucepan of boiling water; let paraffin melt.
When melted paraffin appears clear, add a few drops of essential oil and mix in well using wooden skewer.
Pour melted paraffin into candle holder; pour slowly to avoid creating air bubbles. Let cool.
Prick surface of candle with needle. Candle is ready to be used when no liquid wax residue appears on needle.
Now Try This: Floating candles create a festive atmosphere and a unique centerpiece. Arrange several candles, molded in fluted tartlet pans, in a large glass bowl together with a nosegay of small flowers, herbs, or spices.
